About the Program


The International Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) master’s degree program offers an innovative curriculum that allows students to develop an expertise in conflict resolution, build an international network of contacts, and gain practical experience through problem-based learning in international settings. The program’s strength lies in its interdisciplinary approach to the increasingly critical study of peace and conflict resolution, particularly at the intersection of public health.

The MPH Master’s degree program, a CEPH accredited program in Community Health, trains professionals to promote the health of individuals, families, communities, and the environment. This is accomplished through a program that integrates education, research, and practice in a global environment. The purpose of the program is to build on Arcadia’s strengths in the area of international education, internationalization, and globalization. The program prepares students for life in a rapidly changing global society enabling graduates to pursue careers in public health administration; health insurance and the pharmaceutical industries; research in federal, state and local health departments; domestic and international community organizations, including professionals working in clinical settings.

This dual degree option in Public Health and IPCR prepares students to integrate their knowledge of public health, including program development, implementation and evaluation skills, to assist in conflict resolution.            

Admission Requirements


Dual degree candidates must be admitted to each of the programs in order to enroll in the dual degree program. The deadline for Feb 1, where the student would begin courses in May, and rolling after the deadline until the class is full. 

The following program-specific requirements must be met:

  1. A graduate application including a personal statement, to be completed online at www.arcadia.edu/gradapp.
  2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a recommended GPA of 3.0 or better.
  3. One official transcript from each college, university or professional school attended. Transfer credits included on a transcript must include grades earned; if not, an official transcript from the original school must be submitted. Transcripts must be sent from the issuing school in a sealed envelope and contain the appropriate signatures and seals to be considered official.
  4. Three letters of recommendation. The letters must be of a professional not personal nature. At least two recommendations must be from a professor and one from a health professional.
  5. Test scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the past five years are required for the MPH Degree Program. Arcadia University welcomes applications for the IPCR program from college graduates of all majors, especially those who have demonstrated scholastic excellence and a commitment to international peace and conflict resolution. Related experience and achievements, either domestic or international, also are desirable.
  6. Knowledge of the Public Health profession through work or volunteer experience recommended.
  7. An interview with the IPCR department by invitation only.
  8. International applicants should visit www.arcadia.edu/international for detailed information on admission requirements and application procedures. TOEFL/IELTS results are required for all students for whom English is a second language or who have not earned degrees or diplomas from post-secondary institutions in English-speaking countries (e.g. the United States, Canada, England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand). A course-by-course evaluation of all transcripts by an independent evaluation service based in the United States also is required.

  • Registration: $50 per semester
  • Technology: $100 per semester
  • Parking: $55 per semester or $100 per year (Fall and Spring) before 4 p.m. No charge after 4 p.m.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to assist qualified students in covering tuition and related expenses, as well as living costs.  Upon review for admission, students are automatically considered for merit scholarships and graduate assistantships based on their academic records upon applying for admission to the program.  Graduate students who have been accepted into a degree program and are enrolled for at least 6 credits per semester are eligible to apply for financial aid.  Please visit wwww.arcadia.edu/finaid for information regarding available aid options and visit www.arcadia.edu/gradfinaidapply to complete required forms online.

Federal Loan

Graduate students are eligible to borrow through the Federal Direct Stafford Loan and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan programs provided they are taking at least 6 credits per semester (in the summer, 6 credits over all summer sessions combined satisfies this requirement). Upon Admission to the Dual Degree Program, students are advised to meet with the Dual Degree Program Advisors to develop a program plan of study.
