AE 300 The Uses of Theory in Art Education


(4 Credits)
This comprehensive course is designed for students who are preparing to teach art K-12. This course examines stages of artistic development and investigates how creative exploration and learning occurs. Students study curriculum theory, construct models for actual teaching situations, and develop strategies for classroom management and evaluation procedures. Students have the opportunity to develop and model a lesson for their peers. A half day weekly field experience is included and provides students with the opportunity to practice and apply acquired skills. Registration required for accompanying lab, AE300L in the same semester. Field experiences required. See background check requirement policy.

Prerequisite: ED 110  /ED110L, ED 212  /ED212L, ED 306 , ED 315 , and application to pre-student teaching; or permission of the instructor.
