IT 250 Conversations on Italy: Exploring Culture and Society


4 Credits
This course is designed to enhance students’ speaking skills while exploring Italy’s societal and cultural dynamics. The course covers a wide range of topics including fashion, food, art, and music while also delving into issues such as multiculturalism, migration, and the impact of the North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa diasporas on Italian culture. The course is ideal for students who have completed IT201 as well as those preparing for a semester in Italy. The course builds on students’ existing linguistic knowledge to improve their ability to communicate in intermediate-level Italian and analyze aspects of Italian culture. By the conclusion of the course, students will be able to use Italian to formulate their opinions, to talk about themselves and everyday life, and to assess critically a variety of topics.

Prerequisite: IT201
