EN 379 Speculative Fiction Workshop

4 credits
EN479

Speculative fiction allows us to ask questions: of reality; of the world; of society; of space, of time, of history, of identity, of the body. Whether you’re interested in fantasy, science fiction, mystery, horror or magic realism, join us as we explore the craft of developing speculative stories through dialogue and workshopping. We’ll read short stories and novels that will cover a wide range of subgenres within speculative fiction, and each student will have the opportunity to share their own original works of speculative fiction for feedback and critique. Our goal is to create a nurturing, supportive writing community through which we’ll achieve our creative visions within this flexible and fascinating genre of stories.
