FR 310 French Women Writers and Other Troublemakers

From bomb-throwing pétroleuses through the modern-day MeToo, #balancetonporc, women have claimed a place in the major political and social movements in France and other French-speaking regions such as North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and Quebec. In this course, we ask how the contributions of women writers, filmmakers, activists, and other “troublemakers” both disrupt and shape social norms in the French-speaking world.

Prerequisite: FR 202 or equivalent.
