MU 215 Broadway Musicals

Survey course tracing the development of musicals from the early 20th century to the present. Studies include the evolution of various styles, important composers, librettists and lyricists, and common performance practices. Considering significant social trends as they impact this art form enhances perspective. This course is designed to acquaint students with the elements of this kind of drama with music and to enhance aesthetic pleasure through enlightened observation and timely indulgence. No prior knowledge of music is necessary.
