About Health Sciences, B.S.

The growing landscape of healthcare offers many and varied opportunities to address the health needs of individuals through health systems, clinical practice, and the broad health ecosystem, while also being mindful of societal health impacts and disparities. This Health Sciences major (B.S. and B.A.) will provide students with a grounding in the medical and clinical aspects of healthcare as well as the social underpinnings of disease and wellness. Students from other programs can also minor in health sciences.

The B.S. is designed to prepare students for work in the broad field of healthcare/health systems or health ecosystem - in clinical and non-clinical roles - and for graduate work in the health professions. The major is offered through the College of Health Sciences and includes interdisciplinary coursework in health sciences, healthcare administration, statistics, public health, and biology/chemistry provides a strong foundation for healthcare-related positions and the pursuit of advanced clinical and non-clinical health degrees. In addition to required coursework for the Health Sciences, B.S., advising with the major also includes recommended coursework for application pathways for Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant studies.
