BI 270 Special Topics in Neurobiology (2 or 4 credits) This course will introduce students to select topics in specialized areas of neuroscience including neurobiology of disease, neurodevelopment, glial cell biology, neurotoxicology, and neuropharmacology. The specific topic of this course will vary by semester and area of faculty expertise. Topics covered will draw from current literature, involve student-led discussions, and incorporate problem-based learning approaches to enhance student understanding of key concepts in neurobiology. The course is offered as either 2-credits or 4-credits depending on the topic and can be repeated. Students taking this to fulfill the requirements for the Neuroscience Minor may take individual, 4-credit courses or combine two, 2-credit courses to fulfill the credit requirement. Students should have completed BI 101 and either BI 242 or PY 142 prior to enrolling in the course, or have permission of the instructor if these prerequisites have not been met.
