Support Services for Students with Disabilities

As an institution of higher education, Arcadia University has the responsibility of informing students with disabilities about the process of requesting reasonable accommodations. It is the student’s responsibility to initiate requests for accommodations and services by identifying themselves with the Office of Academic Development’s Disability Support Services (DSS) in Knight Hall and to provide appropriate documentation. Such disclosures are kept confidential. Students must register with DSS in order to receive academic accommodations, classroom accommodations, housing accommodations, or other services due to a disability.

For each subsequent semester that they are enrolled at Arcadia University students should meet with DSS to prepare the letters of accommodation for their classes. Ideally this should occur after a student registers for classes, but it should occur at least three weeks before classes begin in order to put the necessary accommodations in place before the start of the semester. Students do not need to provide new documentation for every semester, unless they require accommodations that are not supported by current documentation on file.

Visit www.arcadia.edu/DSS for more information.
