ID 228 Shakespeare on Stage with Seniors The class offers students the opportunity to engage in a cross-cultural and cross-generational experience using a dramatic text as the initial point of contact. Students will study, analyze and discuss the text; learning skills necessary create and perform as the characters from Shakespeare’s plays. They will, as a class, travel to an established senior citizen community and share what they have learned. They will work with the senior citizens as they rehearse and perform scenes from the chosen Shakespeare comedy reversing age appropriate roles with the senior citizens. The purpose is to engage and connect with the members of a community outside of their own and participate in the creation of a theatrical experience along with that community.
Prerequisite: EN 101
