AI in Education, Certificate

The AI certificate equips educators with instructional knowledge and strategies that elevate both rigor and equity in educational contexts. Coursework is grounded in theories of cognitive, emotional, and social development and includes research-based practices which enable candidates to gain the knowledge and experience needed to navigate the complexities of AI in education, ensuring they are equipped to utilize AI technologies effectively and ethically. Teachers learn to design learning experiences that leverage AI for differentiation, formative assessment, multilingual support, and accessibility—while maintaining high expectations for student reasoning and original work. The program also prepares educators to anticipate and mitigate risks such as algorithmic bias, over-reliance on automated tools, and inequitable access to technology. The Program Endorsement is intended to improve a teacher’s skills in dealing with complex classroom settings. This endorsement may be added to existing PDE educator Level I or Level II Certificates; or an Arcadia University certificate may be generated for those not applying for a Pennsylvania Department of Education endorsement credential in this area.
