Structured Literacy Interventionist PK-12, Graduate Certificate

About the Certificate

Arcadia University’s Structured Literacy Interventionist certificate is a four course 12 credit program that will provide certificate candidates with expertise in the PA Department of Education (PDE), Structured Literacy Competencies for all educators, as mandated by PDE to be implemented by schools and in educator preparation programs; It will also support the development of their knowledge and skills related to coaching others in their educational contexts, grades PK-12 and specialist areas, in applying the competencies to their work with children to support literacy development. Course content will align with current research in the Science of Reading, including the components of structured literacy.

Online Learning

Each course in the certificate is fully online for 8 weeks. The online certificate program provides an opportunity for students living and working in a variety of regions in the U.S. and the world, to participate in a virtual format. The courses in this program operate asynchronously, meaning, the coursework can be completed at a time convenient to the student, within the posted course dates.Students will also have opportunities to communicate with instructors and collaborate with classmates synchronously each week as appropriate.

Requirements

• ED 606 Strategic Instruction for Emergent and Content Literacy, K-12 (3 credits)
• ED 607 Strategic Instruction for Adolescent Readers and Writers, 7-12 (3 credits)
• ED 699 Assessment, Analysis and Instruction in Reading and Writing (3 credits)
• ED 563 Seminar in Reading (3 credits)

• Note: Transfer credit is not permitted in this program 

  All students completing a graduate Education certificate or other non-degree program are required to submit an AU Graduate Program (non-degree) Completion form.
