PY 285 Special Topics in Psychology


(1 to 4 Credits)
Introduction to Counseling introduces students to the counseling profession. It covers the history, structure, values, ethics, and practices of counseling. Students will learn about the therapeutic alliance and its importance to the therapy process, counseling microskills that are fundamental to clinical interactions, and be introduced to evidence-based therapeutic practices. A focus of the course will be the practice and application of learned skills.
