(4 Credits)
In this course, students examine the causes and consequences of the criminal act of homicide. Readings and class discussions will focus on the history and antecedents of homicide and criminological analyses of who commits homicide and why. Students will also examine the categorization of homicide–e.g.: mass killings, spree killings, terrorism, domestic violence–in terms of both the criminal justice response and media coverage.
