FA 228 Illustration II (Children’s Book Illustration)

(4 Credits)
Combining academic and studio elements, this course encourages students to focus on the processes through which children’s books are created, including examining age-group characteristics, generating ideas, and developing style. The history of children’s books and their illustrations are analyzed. Studio and/or written assignments involve following an illustrated book from concept to publication. Classroom activities are supplemented by field trips and presentations by guest artists.

Offered in odd-numbered years.

Prerequisite: FA 103 , FA 104 , and FA 105 .
