PT 715 Teaching and Learning in Health Professions


(3 credits)
Provides an overview of adult learning theory, including learning styles and motivation, metacognition, social learning theory, and professional identity formation. Students learn the fundamentals of “backwards course design”, formulating interconnected student learning outcomes, class learning activities, and assessment strategies to determine students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills. Teaching/learning strategies and techniques for engaging students in active and deep learning are emphasized.

Three class hours per week.

 

Prerequisite: Students must be enrolled in the Movement Science doctoral program or receive written permission from the course instructor and director of the Movement Science doctoral program.
