The Pre-Art Therapy emphasis prepares students for further graduate study in art therapy. Our program allows students to:
Develop studio art skills.
Include pre-professional studies in the behavioral and social sciences.
Meet the requirements of the American Art Therapy Association for graduate school entrance prerequisites.
Adviser: Karen Misher
The Pre-Art Therapy concentration can be elected under either the B.A. or the B.F.A. in Studio Art. Pre-Art Therapy students who choose to obtain the B.F.A. will need to earn a minimum of 20 credits above the usual 128 credits needed for graduation in order to fulfill requirements for both the B.F.A. and the Art Therapy concentration. NOTE: There is no minor in pre-art therapy.
While fulfilling the requirements for the B.A. or B.F.A., students must take courses in ceramics, metals and jewelry, painting and printmaking.
