About the Program
Students in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) with Studio Concentration degree program can earn Instructional I teaching certification in Art K-12. This certification provides a skilled background in the technical and historical aspects of art education as a prerequisite to teaching art in grades kindergarten through 12. The program emphasizes all arts as a means of arriving at aesthetic experiences. Students seeking to earn certification in Art K-12 must complete the B.F.A. degree with a Studio concentration and School of Education’s Art Education certification program requirements. The B.F.A. in Art with Studio Concentration and Art K-12 Certification prepares students for careers as art educators, with a foundation in 2-D and 3-D design, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, metals and jewelry, graphic design, and art history.
Students interested in Art K-12 certification should consult with their B.F.A. adviser and the School of Education as early as possible, preferably freshman year. All Arcadia undergraduates seeking certification must formally apply into the teacher certification preparation program during the spring semester of their sophomore year. See the School of Education section of the catalog for Art K-12 Education certification requirements.
Advisers: Maryann Worrell and Carole Loeffler
