The Social, Emotional, Behavioral and Cultural Wellbeing graduate certificate program is for prospective and practicing teachers, PreK-12 educators, instructional coaches, school administrators as well as informal educators.
This program is designed to position educators to employ culturally and emotionally responsive approaches to education and to positively engage with their schools and communities in ways that support the range of non-academic factors that contribute to student achievement and flourishing. The Arcadia Graduate SEL Certificate and PDE endorsement expands educators’ capacity to build psychological resiliency and wellbeing in students, colleagues and themselves by integrating social, emotional, and behavioral teaching and learning approaches with culturally responsive pedagogies in order to build engaging and supportive learning environments. The coursework incorporates culturally responsive pedagogy and specifically addresses tools for creating trauma sensitive schools and classrooms. All courses are grounded in theories of cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioral development and demonstrate research-based practices that enable candidates to gain knowledge and experience needed to work successfully with family members and the broader community in supporting social, emotional, and behavioral wellness of PK-12 students.
Only candidates who hold valid Pennsylvania Educator Certificates at the conclusion of their programs are eligible to earn the PK-12 Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness Endorsement.
