About the Program

Arcadia’s ESL certificate program prepares you with knowledge and skills to effectively develop supportive instruction for English Learners.

You will:

• Share skills and strategies to meet English language learners’ needs within and outside the classroom.
• Understand the language’s impact on the students’ learning and environments.
• Use classroom-based assessment to measure the students’ knowledge.

The ESL courses also can be taken as part of an MEd degree program.

Requirements

• ED 622 ESL: Multilingual/Multicultural Literacies (3 credits)
• ED 623 ESL: Multilingual/Multicultural Assessment (3 credits)
• ED 624 ESL: Understanding Language Learning (3 credits)
• ED 625 ESL: Language, Diversity and Schooling (3 credits)
• ED 629 Theory and Practice of TESOL (3 credits) must be taken as final course
