About the Program
Master’s in Early Childhood Education is designed to provide early childhood teachers with developmental understanding and the evidence-based tools they need to work with young children (birth to age 5) and their families in inclusive early childhood settings such as early childcare and education centers, Early Head Start, Head Start, Infant and Toddler settings, Preschool, PreK, Kindergarten as well as family-based settings. Early childhood educators and caregivers learn to promote holistic development and learning in all children and provide early intervention when needed. Students can choose between two paths while completing the requirements for an MED with a concentration in Early Childhood.

An MED in Early Childhood for students who are not seeking a Grades PK4 certification program or not enrolled in our Grades PK4 teacher preparation program. (NON CERTIFICATION PATHWAY)

An MED in Early Childhood while concurrently enrolled in our PK4 certification preparation program.
MED with a concentration in an Early Childhood Education (NON CERTIFICATION PATHWAY)
Requirements (30 credits)

Concentration Courses (21 credits)
Chosen in consultation with the adviser.
Culminating Activity (3 credits)
MED with a concentration in Early Childhood Education (GRADES PK4 CERTIFICATION PATHWAY)
