GC 552 Genetic Counseling Techniques I

3 credits
This course provides advanced skills and techniques of counseling in clinical genetics and includes an experiential component for practice of techniques utilizing role plays and standardized patients. In addition students are required to record an actual counseling session and to transcribe two sections of the audiotape. The audiotapes are then analyzed and critiqued. Students will learn the integration of process in the genetic counseling session and to address sensitive patient issues.
