PBH 260 Research and Bio-Statistical Methods in Public Health This course introduces students to research approaches which assess and address public health challenges, focusing on quantitative methods. Students learn how various research designs address a research question and apply this knowledge to the critiques of scientific studies in public health. Students learn statistical approaches utilized in public health research and perform basic data management and analysis. Topics include ethical principles of research, development of research questions, selection of a research design, participant sampling, validity and reliability of measurement tools, research writing, and analysis, presentation, and interpretation of statistical data. The class format is lecture, individual and small group activities and computer-based activities.
Prerequisite: MA141 and PBH250
