ID 226 Teen UpRise Mentoring Experience This experiential course will allow fourteen Arcadia University students to have a Global Connection Experience within 8 miles of Glenside. AU students will work with Teen UpRise, a non-profit organization that seeks to help low-income adolescents create better futures. These enthusiastic and lively teenagers will entertain and inspire AU students. TU members are eager to find young adult role models and will impact your lives as much as you impact theirs. This course will design and implement a short-term partnering program with TU students. AU students will spend fifteen hours of direct contact with TU members. This course will meet three hours a week for on-campus discussions and lectures. AU students will also be required to travel to Teen UpRise’s Roxborough site for six TU after-school sessions, for a total of 15 direct contact hours.
IMPORTANT NOTE: ID226 requires 15 direct contact hours of work at Teen UpRise across the semester. The times available for this are 3:30 - 5:30pm Monday-Thursday. Background and Child Abuse clearances are required for this course. This class is best suited for upperclassmen.
