ED 654 Understanding Human Function and Appropriate Assessment in Assistive Technology

This course provides a deeper look at the human condition on which Assistive Technology (AT) becomes involved – studying general anatomy and physiology; examining issues and effects of disease, disability, illness, accident, and age; reviewing of existing traditional approaches to AT assessments and evaluation tools; and introducing the HAAT model, Person Centered Planning, soft AT, Matching the Person with Technology, and other more humanistic assessment approaches – all to assure that the AT suggested truly meets the person’s desires and needs.
