SO 430 Empirical Research Capstone (4 Credits) The Empirical Research Capstone class offers seniors an intensive immersion in advanced research methods. Students will carry out an independent research project from start to finish on a topic of their choice. Students will learn how to design a study, collect and analyze data, and write a research report. Instruction will be given in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Students can choose from a variety of research methods, including ethnographic methods, unobtrusive research, and analysis of large datasets. The course culminates in a completed senior thesis.
Prerequisite: This course is only open to seniors in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice. Students must have a major GPA of at least a 2.0 in order to enroll and must have passed SO 330 or CJ 330 , or an approved alternate course.
